Dark circles, crepiness and swelling to the under eyes can be a concern for many of us. Our eyes can often take a hit from our environment, health, diet and lifestyle, perhaps telling more than we want to give away. We treat many patients who share this concern and are not getting the results they want from over the counter products. Many people think filler is their only option but we need to be very careful with the delicate eye area, and for the vast majority of us this is not the right treatment. Other treatments such as skin boosters specifically for the eye area are a safer and fantastic alternative for natural looking results.
Explained below are a few options we use at Revive Skin Clinic.
Treatment recommendations will be tailored to each patient.
Light Eyes Ultra
Not only can this solution improve dark circles, but you’ll also see an improvement in fine lines and puffiness. With just a few super fine injections, we can treat both the colour and the firmness of the eyes helping you achieve a more youthful and rested look. Treatment intervals will differ dependent on each skin condition and objectives, however after an initial course it is recommended to have a maintenance treatment every 3-4 months to maintain results.
This Hyaluronic acid and vitamin cocktail is made up of completely natural ingredients:
- Hyaluronic Acid: One of the fundamental components of the connective tissue which enables the skin to maintain its form
- Vitamin C: Aids with the formation of collagen, hyaluronic acid and of intracellularsubstances. Gives protection from free radicals and strengthens tissue
- Superoxide Dismutase: A strong antioxidant found in the body and in plants
- Argireline: A natural protein that reduces the depth of facial wrinkles and preventsskin aging induced by repeated facial movements
- Fermented papaya: A popular skincare ingredient with a high carotenoid content from the papaya fruit which slows down the process of aging caused by free radicals
- Chamomile extract: Offers anti-inflammatory and soothing action
- Rosemary Extract: An antioxidant rich in phyto lipids which are useful for cutaneous repair
- Ruscus and blueberry extract: Increases the firmness of skin and improves darkness
Redensity 1 (Teoxane)
This award winning product combines potent ingredients to help repair the skin whilst hydrating it. It can be used anywhere on the body but is especially good on the delicate eye area. This treatment can be thought of as a more powerful version of mesotherapy and is particularly effective for addressing fine lines, dullness and signs of fatigue.
This cocktail contains a combination of ingredients ripe for optimising DNA synthesis and stimulating collagen production:
- Hyaluronic Acid: It uses non cross-linked hyaluronic acid meaning there are no chains of BDDE between the strands, so it’s broken down very quickly, producing hydrating effects
rather than filling effects - 8 Amino Acids: to enhance cell regeneration
- 3 Antioxidants: to protect the skin against free radicals
- 2 Minerals: uses zinc and copper to boost skin cell health
- Vitamin B6: to help improve cell metabolism
Treatment involves tiny injections with an initial course of 3 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart, and then 1 treatment every 6 months (depending on skin quality) to maintain results.
Polynucleotides
With their hyper-nourishing, tissue-fortifying properties, polynucleotides are an injectable biostimulator and great for patients keen to try something different to hyaluronic acid. Polynucleotides are essentially the building blocks of human DNA, which are fundamental to restoring cellular function. We obviously cannot use human DNA however so these stretchy molecules are made from fragments of fish DNA which mirror human DNA.
They do 2 main things in the skin:
- They’re great antioxidants so mop up and neutralise free radicals and damage caused by UV light, environmental pollution and poor diet that can cause a biochemical rusting within our skin and skin cell damage
- They target the skin cells – the fibroblast cells – to upregulate and increase our collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, to help our skin look brighter, tighter and more hydrated
So essentially, polynucleotides are a rejuvenating, hydrating and healing treatment for the eyes. An initial course of 3 treatments are needed spaced 2-3 weeks apart.
Results start to show a few weeks after treatment but optimal results are around 3 months later and last around 6 months. To keep these optimal results we recommend one maintenance session every 3-6 months depending on skin quality.
