28 people in the North East have been hospitalised with botulism symptoms—linked to illegal, unlicensed cosmetic injections.
Botulism is serious. It’s caused by too much botulinum toxin and can lead to muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and even paralysis.
This isn’t happening in NHS or regulated clinics. It’s linked to black market products and unsafe practices.
Know the Symptoms:

- Drooping eyelids
- Trouble speaking or swallowing
- Weakness in face or muscles
- Paralysis (in severe cases)
Stay Safe:
- Only get treated by a qualified prescriber (ask their full name!)
- Ensure your product comes from a UK pharmacy
- Avoid “too good to be true” prices—legal products aren’t cheap
- Most Korean toxins aren’t legal in the UK (except Letybo, if properly prescribed & dispensed)
